Great fishing and Hiking along the Swartwater River

Hunting trips can be arranged.There is an established Rookery in close proximity of the Guesthouse where Sacred Ibis, Heron and Egret jossle for space to make their clumsy nests. 'Tutan' is one such baby, a Sacred Ibis. He has befriended the family and is spoilt with many lovely treats from the kitchen door.Ripplemead has some splendid hiking along 5 kms of the Swartwater River, with some excellent birding opportunities for the enthusiast.

A new farming venture - the planting of Lavender for the cosmetic and health market, has recently been started. The soil and climatic conditions are ideal for these beautiful, aromatic foliage and flowers.
